PETALING JAYA: Shuttler Ng Tze Yong has defeated Denmark's Magnus Johannesen to make it to the men's singles semi-finals of the Hong Kong Open. He won with a convincing 21-18, 21-12 scoreline Hong Kong Coliseum in Kowloon on Friday (Sept 15).
PETALING JAYA: Shuttler Ng Tze Yong has defeated Denmark's Magnus Johannesen to make it to the men's singles semi-finals of the Hong Kong Open.It will be world No. 20 Tze Yong's first semi-final of the year in individual tournaments after his run was halted six times in the last eight World Tour events.Tze Yong stunned Jonatan in their last encounter in the first round of the Australian Open in Sydney in August.
The Indonesian holds a slight advantage based on the head-to-head records as he has beaten Tze Yong twice before at the 2020 Thomas Cup and 2022 Swiss Open. Meanwhile, independent mixed doubles pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie also made it into the semi-finals with an impressive 21-10, 21-18 win over Indonesia's world No. 16 Rinov Rivaldy-Pitha Haningtyas.
World No. 12 Soon Huat-Shevon will face homesters and world No. 23 Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet next for a place in the final.
