Australians Eleanor Patterson and Nicola Olyslagers both won medals in the women’s high jump at the world championships in Budapest.Patterson and Olyslagers sharing the podium for silver and bronze not only lifted Australia’s overall medal tally at these championships to six. It was a record medal haul for Australia, two more in total than the country had ever won before.

Not since the 1956 Olympics has Australia had two athletes on the dais at a world athletics meet in the same event.
