SANDAKAN: Two hikers, aged 22 and 24, were rescued after they were reported lost at Bukit Mawar, here, on Wednesday.
The Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station received a distress call at 7.13pm and rescue personnel arrived at the location at 7.33pm. Joining the search and rescue operation were the Sandakan Malaysia n Civil Defence Force, local hikers and others.

The victims were successfully brought out of the hill at 9.26pm and handed over to the Ministry of Health personnel for treatment.In another case, the Sandakan Fire Department took about five hours to put out a cable pile fire at the Telekom Malaysia Sandakan cable storage site at Mile 2, here, on Tuesday evening.Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Severinus Sainkui said 16 officers and personnel carried out the firefighting operation, assisted by TM and police personnel.
