SIBU: Two individuals, including a 14-year-old girl, have been arrested in connection with the discovery of an abandoned newborn baby boy on Jalan Tong Sang on Tuesday .

Sibu OCPD, Asst Comm Zulkipli Suhaili, stated that the 44-year-old man and the teenage girl will be remanded on Oct 30 for further investigation. The case is being investigated under Section 317 of the Penal Code for concealing a birth with the intention of abandoning a baby.Zulkipli reported that at about 8.30am on Tuesday , the Sibu District Control Center received a MERS 999 emergency call from a member of the public reporting the discovery of a baby boy still alive in a dustbin at a shophouse in Jalan Tong Sang.
