President Donald Trump announced plans to detain 30,000 criminal migrants at Guantanamo Bay, a notorious detention facility formerly used for terrorism suspects. The announcement came as Trump signed a law authorizing the pretrial detention of undocumented immigrants charged with theft and violent crimes, citing the murder of a US student by a Venezuelan migrant as a catalyst for the legislation.
