A truck carrying iron cargo veered off the road and plunged into a 20-meter deep ravine on the East Coast Highway (LPT) near Kuantan, Bentong, last night. The driver and a passenger were trapped under the truck and the pile of iron. Rescue teams are working hard to evacuate the victims. The Bentong Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) received a call at 8:17 PM and deployed nine personnel with two vehicles to the scene.

Salahuddin Isa berkata, usaha membawa keluar mangsa sedang giat dijalankan oleh pasukan penyelamat.

Tambahnya, pihaknya menerima panggilan pukul 8.17 malam sebelum sembilan anggota dari Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Bentong bersama dua jentera dikerahkan ke tempat kejadian. “Komander operasi melaporkan hasil dari kerja-kerja pencarian di lokasi, didapati terdapat dua lelaki dewasa tersepit di bahagian pemandu dan bahagian penumpang.

“Pihak bomba sudah meminta bantuan unit anjing pengesan bagi mengesan mangsa dan membuat pencarian di sekitar kawasan. “Mangsa berjaya ditemukan dan kerja-kerja memotong besi menggunakan peralatan khas bagi membawa mangsa keluar untuk diserahkan kepada pihak polis. Operasi masih dijalankan,” katanya di sini hari ini. – UTUSAN
