KOTA KINABALU: A 25-year-old trader in the Tawau district was preparing sugarcane juice at a Ramadan bazaar near her house when her hand got stuck in the press machine.

Era Fazira Ramli immediately screamed, prompting her relatives to rush to her aid and switch off the machine when the incident happened at 10am yesterday.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operation chief Khatizah Rahaban said the woman’s hand was crushed up to the wrist when the rescue team arrived at the scene in Kampung Sentosa.“Firemen managed to get her hand out of the machine and gave her preliminary medical treatment before she was sent to the hospital,” she said.
