KUCHING, Feb 28 — Due to the continuous rain for two days, a total of 17 flood victims from seven families were forced to evacuate to two temporary relief centres in Bau district near here this morning.
According to a report from the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee secretariat, Dewan Tanjung Batu PPS in Tasik Biru was opened at 6.40 am to accommodate 13 victims from six families after their houses were flooded. While, another relief centre was opened at Balai Raya Kampung Opar at 7 pm to shelter four more people from a family.
Sarawak JPBN also reported the rise of water level in 29 monitoring areas in Selangau district near Sibu. — Bernama
