PETALING JAYA: Umno deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan hit back at PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasir for asking the party to return funds allegedly sourced from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Reminding Akmal that the authorities had already frozen Umno's account, Mohamad said his claims were baseless.
"Even if it is later proven that Umno's funds were from 1MDB, how can Umno return it when the government has frozen its accounts?" he said. Mohamad said this in response to the Johor Baru MP's call to Umno to return the funds following the move by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to recover RM270mil from 41 entities and individuals allegedly linked to 1MDB."Umno's commitment is to respect the process, and to give our fullest cooperation without meddling.Across The Star Online
