In northern Victoria, fugitive Stanley Turvey's run came to an end as police shot him dead, bringing a close to a tense three-day manhunt. The 33-year-old Turvey was distinguishable by several tattoos, notably one of a hand grenade on his face. Police discovered him at a property in Ardmona, close to Shepparton, earlier today. Upon confrontation, Turvey was armed and met by officers from the Special Operations Group. Paramedics attempted to revive Turvey at the scene, but he couldn't be saved. Earlier this week, Turvey sparked a search operation across New South Wales and Victoria when he escaped arresting officers on Monday.

Manhunt for fugitive Stanley Turvey extends to third dayThe manhunt for Stanley Turvey has entered its third day as his family pleads for the fugitive to turn himself in to the police. The 33-year-old fired a warning shot into the air before fleeing from police during a standoff near Shepparton on Monday. An armed Mr Turvey allegedly forced a man to drive him across the border to his uncle's Finlay home in the New South Wales Riverina region. Authorities searched the property but were unable to locate Mr Turvey despite calls from his uncle to hand himself in “before it gets too bad”. The fugitive is now believed to be travelling in a white Toyota Hilux, stolen during one of many altercations on Tuesday, including assaulting a woman and threatening construction workers. Police say he was last headed back towards the Greater Shepparton region.
