Trump's suggestion sparked controversy as he claimed Gaza had become a 'destruction site' after 15 months of Israeli bombing that displaced 2.3 million Gazans. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi vehemently rejected the proposal, stating Egypt would not allow Gaza residents to be relocated to its territory. He also asserted that Egyptians would take to the streets to express their dissent. Trump reiterated his stance on Thursday, emphasizing that the US had provided significant aid, including military assistance, to Egypt and Jordan. The proposal to relocate Gaza residents has long been rejected by Palestinian leadership and neighboring Arab countries. Since the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023, the proposal has continued to face strong opposition from the Arab world. Jordan already hosts several million Palestinians, while tens of thousands more reside in Egypt.

Ini kerana, menurutnya, Gaza kini menjadi ‘tapak pemusnahan’ selepas 15 bulan pengeboman Israel yang mengakibatkan 2.3 juta penduduk Gaza kehilangan tempat tinggal.
