Tens of thousands of people marched in major French cities to protest against violence against women. The demonstrations are part of a campaign urging France to take action following a high-profile rape trial.

PARIS: Puluhan ribu penunjuk perasaan berdemonstrasi di bandar-bandar utama Perancis bagi membantah keganasan terhadap wanita.

Pendakwaan terhadap 51 lelaki di bandar selatan Avignon kini berada di peringkat akhir, termasuk tertuduh yang meracun isteri selama sedekad dan puluhan yang lain didakwa bersubahat mendera wanita tersebut di rumah mereka. Polis menganggarkan penglibatan kira-kira 12,500 penunjuk perasaan, manakala penganjur pula mendakwa demonstrasi itu disertai oleh 80,000 orang.
