At Dothan City Board of Education’s May meeting, Dothan City Schools (DCS) recognized Evelyn Parker of Carver 9th Grade Academy as the May Employee of the Month.

At Dothan City Board of Education ’s May meeting, Dothan City Schools recognized Evelyn Parker of Carver 9th Grade Academy as the May Employee of the Month.

“Mrs. Parker is a tireless educator who has a mission to impact students in all areas,” said Mitchell. “Each day, she works intentionally to make sure the needs of the entire child are met so that learning can be maximized. She starts each day by welcoming students and parents at carline where she has upbeat music, a friendly smile, and wave, setting the expectation of the day.

Parker shared her excitement after the meeting in a post on Facebook, saying, “My boss, Todd Mitchell, told me to show up tonight - for them. Unbeknownst to me, because of them I would receive an honor that humbled me to tears . To every person that has poured into me to be who and what I am as an educator- thank you. I am humbled. Being a gatekeeper is hard work, but it’s also good work. My eyes sweat as I read, see, and hear the kind sentiments. “My why” is public knowledge.
