The Cougars were shooting lights out from the 3-point line and getting timely stops. The upset was there for the taking.
Meanwhile, the Cougars missed shots, turned the ball over, gave up costly offensive rebounds and didn’t defend well enough in those final five minutes. It was indicative of a Cougars team that has an experience disadvantage when playing against some of the top teams in the West Coast Conference. Fast-forward to Saturday night against Pepperdine, and the Cougars showed some of what Gonzaga did against them.
