“I made an insensitive remark today about Ken, who I’ve known for some time. I’ve spoken to him about the importance of cultural respect and apologized for my offensive comments,” Bradshaw said Monday night in a statement, via Variety. “I would like to also apologize to the Asian American community for my insensitivity.”
Bradshaw’s gaffe occurred at the Fox upfront presentation Monday as he attempted to make a joke about his singing career during a promotional push for “Thursday Night Football. Talking about his appearance on “The Masked Singer,” the former quarterback called Jeong, who was a judge on the show, “the little short guy from Japan.” Jeong was born in Detroit to immigrant parents from South Korea.
“I love to sing, as all of you know who have my records,” Bradshaw said in reply to a question from his “Fox NFL Sunday” co-host Michael Strahan. He went on to misidentify another of the show’s judges. “Unfortunately, I was kicked off by Alan Thicke and the little short guy from Japan.”Later, during Fox’s upfront presentation for “The Masked Singer,” Jeong did not mention Bradshaw’s remark, according to Variety.
