PETALING JAYA: Disciplinary action should be taken against all Umno MPs who have yet to withdraw support for the Perikatan Nasional government and Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, says an Umno supreme council member.
Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said this was his stance and that no Umno member, no matter how high their position in government, was more important than the party.
In a Facebook post on Thursday , Johari shared two news articles quoting him saying Umno must act against any MP who failed to follow the decision of the supreme council in withdrawing support for Muhyiddin and Perikatan. "Disciplinary action must be taken against any party member who goes against the party's decision. Only then will this party be respected by its members and the public," the former second finance minister was quoted as saying in the reports.
On Facebook, Johari reiterated his stance, saying that the decision by the party to rescind its support was justified as the failures of the government have caused many to suffer. "The leadership is weak and incompetent. An interim government made up of leaders from various ethnic groups and credible backgrounds must be formed immediately to handle the Covid-19 pandemic and after this crisis is solved, a general election can be held to overcome the political instability in the nation," he wrote.
