A syndicate has been detected selling special stickers to lorry owners and drivers to avoid roadblocks and fines. These stickers, displaying specific codes or shapes, allegedly signal corrupt enforcement officers to allow passage despite traffic offences like overloading. The syndicate, believed to be run by law enforcement officers, charges RM1,000 per lorry and earns at least RM10,000 monthly from each operator. Lorry operators purchase multiple stickers to cover different areas and ensure continued immunity from legal action.
Syndicates selling special stickers have been detected as most heavy vehicle owners and drivers are buying them to ‘protect’ themselves when passing through roadblocks.
Lorry operators would allegedly purchase the special stickers, which display a specific code or shape, from the syndicate for as little as RM1,000 for each lorry, then stick them on the front or back of their heavy vehicles to make it easier to spot and identify. The stickers function as an indicator to corrupt enforcement officers at roadblocks, who will then provide relief by allowing them to pass through despite committing various traffic offences including being overloaded.
