Police Disrupt 40 Online Scam Syndicates in Nationwide OperationPolice in Malaysia have crippled approximately 40 online scam syndicates during a 12-day special operation. The operation, which began on November 25th and ended on December 6th, involved 63 raids on criminal call centers across the country. 426 individuals, including 331 men and 95 women aged 16 to 55, were arrested. These syndicates are involved in various online scams such as online gambling, bogus investment schemes, e-commerce fraud, love scams, and charity and pornography promotion scams. The operation targeted not only local victims but also international ones from countries like the United States, China, Japan, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
