Two years after the Supreme Court of Appeal ordered the State Attorney to recover the R18.2 million in taxpayer funds spent by Jacob Zuma on his corruption trial legal costs, it has yet to issue summons against the former president.
In response to repeated queries from News24, the State Attorney on Wednesday confirmed that it had not yet initiated court action against Zuma. It instead maintained – as it had in March 2022 – that it was preparing to issue summons against the former president.
