Lt. Malcolm Reed gets some Star Trek: Lower Decks love.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary Star Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: very Short Treks calls back to another Star Trek: Enterprise favorite character besides Commander Trip Tucker . 18 years after Star Trek: Enterprise was canceled, and Trip Tucker was killed off in Enterprise's controversial series finale, Connor Trinneer played Trip once again in the Star Trek: very Short Treks episode "Holograms All The Way Down.

In the B-story of Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4, episode 5, "Empathalogical Fallacies," Lieutenant Brad Boimler is taken under the wing of Lieutenant Shax and the USS Cerritos' security team. Boimler believes Shax intends to teach him how to be tougher, and Bradward is shocked to learn the Cerritos' security squad instead practices slam poetry and holistic ways of balancing their mental and emotional health.

As unexpected and welcome as Star Trek: Lower Decks showing Malcolm Reed some love was, it was just as big a surprise to see Reed pop up alongside Trip Tucker in Star Trek: very Short Treks' "Holograms All The Way Down." Reed was in the background of Trip's brief scene on the NX-01 Enterprise's bridge, as was T'Pol, who was played by Jolene Blalock on Star Trek: Enterprise.

Star Trek’s Increasing Enterprise Callbacks Explained Star Trek: Enterprise was long considered a bit of a redheaded stepchild of the Star Trek franchise, and it was saddled with the reputation of ending the Rick Berman era of Star Trek after only 4 seasons. However, Enterprise has gained a new and more appreciative audience in recent years thanks to its availability on streamers like Netflix and Paramount+.

Star Trek: Lower Decks is now piling on delightful Star Trek: Enterprise Easter eggs. Lower Decks season 1 included a joke about a "Kirk sundae with Trip Tucker sprinkles," and Lower Decks season 4, episode 2, "I Have No Bones Yet I Must Flee" referenced "Tucker Tubes" in Engineering. A Malcolm Reed crossword puzzle fits right in with Lower Decks' fun homages.
