PETALING JAYA: The Dewan Rakyat meeting on Monday (May 18) will only feature the opening address by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, said Parliament.
Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Mohamad Ariff Md Yusof said that there would not be any other government business to attend to for the day.
"I received a letter signed by the Prime Minister who is the Ketua Majlis, informing that as the Covid-19 outbreak has not been completely subsided, the government had decided that the first meeting of the third session of the 14th Parliament would only take place for a day on May 18. "There will be no meeting after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's opening address," he said in a statement on Wednesday .Aside from the opening of the meeting by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the session was only to settle government business.
This was supposed to include the declaration of the appointment of the Opposition leader, the tabling of a motion on the appointment of the Parliamentary Select Committee, as well as the appointment of the chairman and deputy of the Public Accounts Committee . Two Supplementary Supply Bills were also supposed to be tabled for its first reading as well as a motion to adjourn debate on the King's speech.
