Sonos recently announced that it will be delaying the launch of two products and shifting its focus towards the hot mess that is its dedicated app.
Sonos's recent quarter was expected to shine with the launch of the Ace, its first headphones, but the company faced setbacks due to problems with its app redesign. CEO Patrick Spence claimed that these issues have also led to a reduction in the company’s 2024 revenue forecast.
The company is now prioritising fixing the app issues and has postponed the planned Q4 product launches, which were rumoured to include a TV streaming box and a new Arc soundbar. While the specific products have not been officially disclosed, Bloomberg reported that the cost of fixing up the app is projected to be up to US$30 million . Costly as it is, it's safe to say that the company will want to resolve these app issues quickly to ensure any future company endeavours kicks off without a hitch.Despite these setbacks, Spence remains optimistic about Sonos' future, viewing the current challenges as a temporary setback rather than a long-term issue.
