PETALING JAYA: Sebanyak 10 persatuan media menyatakan sokongan terhadap penubuhan Majlis Media Malaysia , namun menolak penglibatan wakil kerajaan dalam lembaga majlis itu.

Gabungan suara itu menegaskan bahawa penolakan terhadap kehadiran wakil kerajaan adalah bagi memastikan MMM kekal sebagai badan kawal selia kendiri yang bebas tanpa menjejaskan objektif dan tujuan penubuhannya selepas Rang Undang-Undang diluluskan semalam. Semalam, RUU MMM 2024 diluluskan oleh Dewan Rakyat sekaligus melakar sejarah kepada industri media di negara ini.

Tambah gabungan suara itu, kerajaan digesa mengemukakan pelan tindakan dan garis masa yang jelas bagi reformasi perundangan media dalam usaha mencapai kebebasan media yang sebenar di negara ini.
