PETALING JAYA: Singles shuttler Siti Nurshuhaini Azman (pic) is eager to prove that she has improved under coach James Chua when she competes in the Indian Junior International Grand Prix in Pune, India, from Aug 30-Sept 4.
Nurshuhaini, who has been training under James since July when he was appointed as women’s singles coach, feels that she is developing well under his guidance and wants to show it by winning a title.“I’m excited to play in this tournament after not getting to compete for some time. During the past few weeks, I feel that I’ve improved under coach James and hope to win a title,” said Nurshuhaini.
She also did not fare well in the individual event after she was eliminated by eventual champion Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand in the quarter-finals. After the tournament in India, the youngster will compete in the Malaysian Junior International Series from Sept 6-11 in Putrajaya and the Malaysian Games from Sept 16-24 in Kuala Lumpur.
The three tournaments will serve as warm-ups for the World Junior Mixed Team Championships and World Junior Championships . Malaysia have been handed a tough draw in the mixed team meet as they will face top seeds Indonesia in Group A along with Sweden and Latvia. Only the group winners will qualify for the knockout rounds.
