A Singaporean woman faces charges of child abuse after her husband was sentenced to decades in prison for the death of his biological daughter. The couple's surviving son's identity is protected, but the gag order was lifted for their deceased sister.

A woman in Singapore has been accused of abusing her two step-children. This case comes after the High Court sentenced her husband to 34½ years in jail and 12 strokes of the cane for the death of his biological daughter. The 34-year-old woman faces multiple charges, including four counts of ill-treating a child. She is accused of confining the children, aged two to five at the time, in a small room and a bathroom naked.

The woman, who allegedly committed the offenses with her husband, has indicated that she will plead guilty at her next hearing on February 4. He had Ayeesha and her brother from a previous marriage and three more children with his second wife. Court proceedings revealed that the man started abusing Ayeesha and her brother in 2015, the same year he married his second wife. He underfed them, causing them to eat their own feces and mattress stuffing. He slapped Ayeesha 15 to 20 times on her face and punched the siblings on their backs the next day. He also kicked and stamped on his daughter at around 3 am, only to discover later that evening she was unresponsive. In the early hours of August 12, 2017, he disposed of evidence, including footage from CCTV cameras he had installed to monitor them. He then took his son and Ayeesha, who was already dead, to Singapore General Hospital in a pram
