While acknowledging the future of the airline’s board lay with shareholders, Labor cabinet minister Bill Shorten questioned if it should even get that far.

“As the chair, [Richard] Goyder and the other directors must take responsibility for what has happened under their watch. “In light of the potential fines and compensation claims heading towards the airline, the board’s approval of generous CEO remuneration and bonuses is coming into question, as is the need to make clawback decisions.”Mr Albanese this week sidestepped questions about whether he or his office provided advice to Transport Minister Catherine King to block Qatar Airways’ bid for 28 more flights into Australia, and used question time to go on the offensive over allegations he was too cosy with Qantas.
