The Australian selectors announced a list of 24 men’s players to be offered national contracts for 2023-24 with several players who featured heavily over recent Test matches left out.

Renshaw was expected to be on the plane for the Ashes tour given his impressive record in England and his recent selection ahead of Marcus Harris for India. Spinner Todd Murphy – who starred on the tour of India – was handed his first national contract while Mitchell Swepson was left off suggesting he is now the clear back up to Nathan Lyon Making up the rest of the contract list debutants was ODI regular Sean Abbott, after another strong season in the domestic competitions, as did fellow quick Michael Neser and wicketkeeper Josh Inglis.
