Kerusi Sandakan kosong berikutan kematian penyandangnya, pengerusi DAP Sabah, Stephen Wong, pada 28 March lalu.Kerusi Parlimen Sandakan mempunyai seramai 39,777 pengundi, yang terdiri daripada 49% orang Cina, 44% Bumiputera Islam dan 6% Bumiputera bukan-Islam.
