The Selangor state government is taking steps to prevent drug use at concerts by proposing mandatory urine tests for attendees as part of standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The Selangor state government plans to recommend urine tests as part of standard operating procedures ( SOP s) for concert attendees to prevent drug use . According to Bernama, State Exco for Local Government and Tourism Datuk Ng Suee Lim said the proposal will be discussed and detailed at the State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting on Wednesday. He said it is one of the measures to review shortcomings and improvements in the SOP s for organizing concerts.

This includes ensuring the availability of scanning equipment to detect any prohibited substances brought in by unauthorized individuals. 'We want to tighten the SOPs and see the cooperation that can be done with the police and local authorities (PBT) because when a license or permit is issued, we want to ensure that the organizers thoroughly check (especially regarding drugs),' he said. 'So, after this, urine tests may have to be conducted as part of the SOPs for visitors and this proposal will be brought to the EXCO meeting so that people who abuse drugs or drug addicts are not allowed to enter any concerts,' he added. Further elaborating, Ng said the government is reviewing guidelines for concert implementation in Selangor to prevent repeated drug-related deaths
