Selangor FC emerged victorious in the Klang Valley derby against KL City with a 1-0 win, courtesy of Alvin Fortes' goal.
Alvin Fortes' solitary goal allowed Selangor FC to overcome Kuala Lumpur (KL) City in the Klang Valley derby with a 1-0 victory at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium earlier today. Faisal Halim was entrusted by Selangor FC manager Katsuhito Kinoshi to lead the attack. Meanwhile, The City Boys had to make do without several key players due to injuries. Nevertheless, the visiting team put up a strong fight, with the score remaining 0-0 at the end of the first half.
In the second half, Selangor, eager for a win, increased their attacking intensity to find the opener. Their persistent efforts finally paid off in the 63rd minute as Fortes capitalized on a simple rebound, finishing a chance presented inside KL City's penalty box. The visiting team came close to equalizing, but Jovan Motika's shot when the goal was wide open failed to hit the net. The result sees Selangor secure their 12th victory of the season from 17 matches, keeping them in second place with 38 points, while JDT remains at the top with 49 points. Selangor's next fixture in the Super League is against Penang FC on January 25th
