A total of 53,395 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives in Sabah benefited from RM813.4 million in government funding allocated last year. The financing was channeled through various agencies under the Ministry of Entrepreneurial Development and Cooperatives, including Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM), Tekun Nasional, Bank Rakyat, SME Bank, SME Corp, Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (Pernas), and the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM). In addition, through the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN), 41 entrepreneurship training and guidance programs were implemented in the state last year, benefiting 1,585 entrepreneurs. The minister aims to see more MSMEs and cooperatives seeking financing from agencies under his ministry.

Kata Ewon, beliau ingin melihat lebih ramai usahawan PMKS dan koperasi tampil mendapatkan pembiayaan daripada agensi-agensi di bawah kementeriannya. “Di bawah fokus tambahan Dasar Pandang ke Timur Dalam Negara yang saya sedang jayakan di peringkat kementerian ini, kita akan laksanakan inisiatif-inisiatif yang bersesuaian dengan keperluan wilayah Borneo khususnya di Sabah dan Sarawak.
