Rockets Twitter presented Paulo Alves with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel nearly 5,000 miles to see his favorite team on the court.
"It really shows how united Rockets Twitter is and how good of a community it is," he said."You don't see this kind of stuff, at least I don't see this kind of stuff, from any other community on Twitter."
If everything goes well with his passport and travel documents, he'll make the 13-hour trek to Houston for the Rockets' April 10 game against the Atlanta Hawks.He said his friends and family now have a greater appreciation of his early-morning exploits. The diehard fan watches every game on television and participates in the Rockets postgame Twitter space even though some games end around 4 a.m. in his time zone. He's also a contributor on the local podcast network Apollo Media.
