Two retired teachers in Pahang lost over RM2 million to separate online scams last month.

Two retired teachers in Pahang lost over RM2 million after falling victim to online scams last month. In the first case, a 71-year-old retired male teacher invested RM10,000 in a Facebook stock investment advertisement promising a 30 percent return. Encouraged by the initial profits, he transferred over RM1.8 million into six different accounts specified by the suspect before realizing the scam.

The second case involved a 60-year-old retired female teacher who lost over RM333,000 to a phone scam. A person claiming to be an Etiqa Insurance agent informed her that someone made an insurance claim in her name. Later, another individual, claiming to be Sergeant Zaidi, accused her of money laundering and instructed her to transfer her funds into a suspect's account for Bank Negara investigation. The victim was also directed to take out a bank loan and sell her jewellery, with the proceeds deposited into the suspect’s account
