Boyolali Police Investigate Burning of Teen in Pondok Pesantren

Boyolali police are actively investigating the case of a 15-year-old student who was burned by an assailant at a Simo, Boyolali, Central Java pondok pesantren. The incident began when the suspect poured fuel on the victim's body and then ignited a lighter. The fire quickly engulfed the victim, causing serious injuries. The suspect, a 21-year-old visitor to the pesantren, is believed to have acted on a complaint from his younger brother, who claimed the victim had stolen his phone. The suspect arrived at the pesantren around 9 pm and confronted the victim in a locked room. Police have seized several pieces of evidence, including a burned carpet, a lighter, the victim's clothing, and a bottle containing fuel. The suspect is currently detained at the Boyolali Police Headquarters and is being investigated under several provisions of Indonesian law, including Article 187 and 353 of the Criminal Code.

“Bahan bakar itu disimbah ke tubuh mangsa, dan pelaku cuba menakut-nakutkannya dengan pemetik api yang dinyalakan, namun api terus menyambar tubuh mangsa,” katanya kepada pihak media.Tambah beliau, suspek merupakan seorang lelaki berusia 21 tahun, yang merupakan tetamu di pondok tersebut. Ini kerana, adik suspek, yang juga pelajar di sekolah itu mendakwa telefon bimbitnya dicuri oleh mangsa sebelum mengadu kepada suspek.“Suspek meminta adiknya membawa mangsa kepadanya dengan bantuan seorang pengasuh pondok. Suspek kemudian menyoal mangsa di sebuah bilik yang dikunci,” ujar Joko.
