Cavite First District Rep. Jolo Revilla filed on Tuesday, Aug. 16, a bill mandating funeral service providers to offer an indigent funeral package.
House Bill No. 3678 proposes a P15,000 funeral package for poor families, covering the retrieval and embalming of the deceased, selection of the casket, viewing of the body, and interment services.
The legislative measure aims to provide decent funeral and burial services for poor Filipinos without subjecting them to high expenses. In a press statement, Revilla said indigent families usually get aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development through the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation program as well as burial assistance from the local government unit.The bill is co-authored by Bacoor City Rep. Lani Mercado-Revilla, Agimat party-list Rep. Bryan Revilla, Ilocos Rep. Sandro Marcos, 4Ps party-list Rep. Marcelino Libanan, Caloocan City Third District Rep. Dean Asistio, Bicol Saro party-list Rep.
