The industrialisation of hills and paddocks for renewable wind and solar energy is “damaging” for the environment and “breaks communities apart”, says Menzies Research Centre Director Nick Cater.

His comments come as NSW election polling in regional areas have revealed more than 50 per cent of voters in those seats won’t vote for a party pushing for net-zero carbon emissions – while 5 gigawatts of offshore wind farm are set to be built off Victoria’s coast.“This vast industrialisation of the hillsides and paddocks where they put up wind and solar is really, really damaging.

“They can see this and let’s not go down the path of offshore wind – it’s very expensive, we don’t even have any costings on it yet.
