Rapid KL achieved a record-breaking 1.5 million passengers on New Year's Eve (Dec 31), the highest daily ridership in its history. Prasarana Malaysia Berhad ( Prasarana ) stated that the 30% surge compared to Rapid KL's average daily ridership in 2024 was attributed to high visitor attendance at New Year's Eve festivities like KLCC, TRX, Lalaport, Bukit Bintang, Pasar Seni, and Sunway. Rail services transported 1.
27 million passengers, with the Kajang line leading at 368,018 passengers, while 207,266 used bus services, including the Demand Responsive Transit (DRT). Prasarana Group President and CEO Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah credited the success to meticulous planning, coordination with authorities like police and event organizers, and the dedication of nearly 3,000 front-line staff who worked until 3 am. He expressed optimism that this achievement will motivate Rapid KL to continue delivering excellent and efficient services.
