Rapid KL achieved a historic milestone by transporting nearly 1.5 million passengers on December 31st, 2024, marking the highest daily passenger count in its history.

Rapid KL opened a new chapter in 2025 by creating its own history by handling nearly 1.5 million passengers on December 31st, which is the highest daily passenger record in its history. Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) announced in a statement that the presence of visitors at New Year's Eve celebrations, including at KLCC, Tun Razak Exchange (TRX), Lalaport, Bukit Bintang, Pasar Seni and Sunway, contributed to a 30% increase compared to the average daily figure in 2024.

According to records, the number of users on New Year's Eve for rail services was 1.27 million, with Kajang being the highest at 368,018 passengers, while bus services, including Demand Responsive-Transit (DRT), were 207,266 users. Prasarana Group President and CEO Mohd Azharuddin Mat Sah said the success in handling such a large-scale operation proved that Rapid KL staff possess high skills, expertise and extensive experience in providing the best service to the people. 3,000 front-line Rapid KL staff worked until the extended operating hours ended at 3 am yesterday (January 1st) and also received cooperation from relevant parties like the police and event organizers. “Achieving a new record is a source of motivation for Rapid KL to continue striving, providing even more brilliant and efficient services to all public transportation users,” he said in the statement. Mohd Azharuddin said Rapid KL will continue to strengthen the user experience and will also introduce various better initiatives this year, such as the acquisition of electric buses and new DRT vans, as well as the opening of the Shah Alam route for user convenience
