Rapid Bus is set to expand its Rapid KL On-Demand ( DRT ) service by introducing four new routes starting February 1st, 2024. The newly added routes aim to enhance accessibility and provide more dynamic transportation options within the Klang Valley . The four routes are Taman Desa - Jalan Klang Lama (T850B), LRT Bangsar - Taman Bandaraya (T850B), MRT Putrajaya Sentral - Presint 11 (T512B), and Taman Genting Setapak - Setapak (T250B).
The T850B (Taman Desa - Jalan Kelang Lama) and T512B (MRT Putrajaya Sentral - Precinct 11) routes will offer direct connections to Rapid KL's existing rail services, making it convenient for commuters to seamlessly transition between different modes of transportation. Furthermore, routes T650B (Taman Desa - Jalan Kelang Lama) and T250B (Taman Genting Setapak - Setapak) will utilize dedicated bus lanes along Jalan Kelang Lama and Jalan Genting Kelang, ensuring efficient and faster travel times.Acting chief executive officer of Rapid Bus, Ku Jamil Zakaria, stated that the introduction of these new routes will also result in a shorter average waiting time of approximately 10 minutes. He emphasized that Rapid Bus will continue to operate its existing bus services in these areas, enhancing overall accessibility with more dynamic stops. The Rapid KL On-Demand service, launched in May 2023, has already seen significant growth, expanding to nine routes with 20 vans by August 2023. Ridership has increased by an average of 59% since its launch, from 1,271 to 2,023 passengers per day. Starting February 1st, 50% of the stops on these new routes will be gradually added based on the needs of the surrounding communities, ensuring that the service remains responsive and caters to the evolving demands of its users.
