Craig Silverman said he was fired by the conservative KNUS radio station while in the middle of a segment about President Donald Trump.

Silverman, who is a former chief deputy district attorney in Denver, has said he voted for Trump in 2016 and supported him in the early days of his presidency, but recent comments show he no longer stands by the president.

"Lawyers have special responsibility to call out bullcrap like vicious smear tweet against Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch. 45 loves right to criticize but never wants to testify. Or let anyone near the truth. Or his taxes. Bad!" he wrote on Twitter Saturday evening. In a Facebook post on Friday, Silverman had called Yovanovitch, the former ambassador to Ukraine who has testified in the impeachment hearings, an"American hero." He added:"I have seen countless witnesses testify and she was one of the all-time finest. Her poise, courage and credibility inspire me."

"I voted for Trump in 2016 because the Democrats had moved too far left for me and I feared the Clintons were corrupt," he wrote in an op-ed for"Most of my guests and listeners are conservative, and I understand their difficulty digesting damaging facts against their hero, Donald Trump. But let's not hide from hard truths or label it fake news. Let's talk about it."
