NSW Ambulance said it was responding to the alert for flight QF144 from Auckland, reportedly due to engine failure. A Sydney Airport spokesperson confirmed to 7NEWS.com.au that fire, police and ambulance crews had been deployed as a “precaution”.Website Flight Aware indicates the flight landed at approximately 3.29pm on Wednesday.
A Qantas spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au the flight “experienced an issue with one of its engines about an hour from its destination”.While a mayday alert was initially issued, it was downgraded to a PAN while the plane was still in the air.
