The Police Regional Office-6 awarded a lawman killed in an encounter with the New People’s Army in Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Aug. 9.

Police Corporal Jaime Nuñez received the Medalya ng Kadakilaan from Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director, during a visit to his wake in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Saturday, August 12.Villaflor lauded Nuñez for doing his job as a police officer. Nuñez was killed while he and Calatrava police station personnel led by Police Capt. Jesus Alba were on their way to serve warrants of arrest against two communist rebels charged with murder and illegal possession of explosives.

Villaflor also awarded Alba and Police Corporal Dennis Nasis who both who survived the gunfight with the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting. They were also given cash assistance of P50,000.
