A prominent Malaysia n preacher, Ahmad Husam Baderudin, has been forced to close three of his Islamic religious schools (tahfiz) and a retirement home due to alleged sabotage by individuals he described as betrayers. According to Husam, these individuals filed police reports against a foundation that previously funded his tahfiz centers, Maahad Tahfiz Ar Riyaadah, resulting in the freezing of the organization's accounts.

This has made it difficult for the management of the tahfiz centers to pay salaries, staff wages, and cover operating costs. Husam, also known as Ustaz Husam, provides free care for the elderly and teachers at the tahfiz center. \He expressed that his tahfiz centers might cease operations entirely within a couple of months due to mounting challenges. Husam stated that various individuals have been causing trouble, dissatisfied people seeking financial gain, and filing police reports against him and his organization, including attempting to claim funds meant for orphans and tahfiz students. He detailed his struggle to cope with these pressures, forced to sell land and refinance his home to cover operational costs and staff salaries. He mentioned that the tahfiz center in Alor Setar had to be temporarily closed two weeks ago due to the inability to pay electricity bills, which were cut off due to the frozen accounts. Husam stressed the importance of explaining the situation to the public because his tahfiz and retirement homes rely on public donations. However, he remains determined to continue operating the tahfiz center he has built over the years. \He further revealed that he had filed a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) due to the relentless harassment by this group, leading to the arrest of several individuals suspected of extortion. He identified them as political activists who had demanded money from him under the pretense of resolving a money laundering (AMLA) case under investigation by the police. The arrests took place in various locations, including Bedong, Sungai Petani, and the SPRM office in Kedah, over a period of several hours.
