John Pesutto has urged Labor MPs to “call out” Premier Daniel Andrews over his treatment of public servants following the scrapped Commonwealth Games.
The Premier has been highly critical of the business case at the centre of Victoria’s bid for the event,In a sign that a splinter could be emerging within Labor ranks, senior Minister Ben Carroll threw his support behind the public servants.
Asked about the difference in opinion within the Labor government, Mr Pesutto backed in Mr Carroll’s assessment. “I don’t think there’s any difference between what the Minister said and what I’ve said,” he told reporters on Thursday. “Ultimately if a business case says something is going to cost two-and-a-half to $3 billion and it then costs $6 to $7 billion, then clearly that is a problem.”
