A day out from the Reserve Bank of Australia's latest monthly decision on the cash rate, Anthony Albanese has expressed his government's 'confidence' in Governor Philip Lowe.
The RBA board will meet on Tuesday to mull the latest economic figures and make a call on whether to raise the rate for the 11th consecutive time or hit the pause button.
"We have confidence in the Governor of the Reserve Bank, as both sides of politics have. The Reserve Bank is independent of government," he told 6PR. Mr Albanese said latest data showing a fall in inflation - 6.8 per cent in February versus 7.4 per cent in January - was a positive sign it had peaked in line with expectations.
