The Philippines could see over 600 Covid-19 cases per day by the middle of May, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Wednesday, April 12. ManilaBulletin
This latest projection is based on Feasibility Analysis of Syndromic Surveillance using Spatio-temporal Epidemiological Modeler for Early Detection of Diseases , said DOH Officer-in-Charge and Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire.
The country’s current average number of daily cases is at 278, based on the recent DOH’s weekly case bulletin.The DOH has observed a slight increase in the number of new Covid-19 cases in some areas of the country, said Vergeire. “As we see an increase in cases among unvaccinated individuals, we continue to remind our people to get our jabs done and boosters done to remain protected against the virus,” she added.Meanwhile, Vergeire said the Philippines needs to be prepared before the government decides to lift the state of public health emergency due to Covid-19, which was declared last March 8, 2020 by former President Rodrigo Duterte.
