The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has been recognized for its outstanding achievements in sustainable urban development by winning four awards at the 2024 Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) Excellence Awards.

The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) has solidified its reputation as a pioneer in sustainable urban development by winning four prestigious awards at the 2024 Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) Excellence Awards (MIPPEA 24). The esteemed awards ceremony took place at the Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, on January 24, 2025. This achievement recognizes MBPJ's outstanding leadership in urban planning, sustainable development, and technological innovation.

The four awards received by MBPJ are: 1. Bronze Award in the Placemaking and Public Space Award (Government Initiative) category for the Toy Library@Flora Damansara project. 2. Silver Award in the Low Carbon Award (Building) category for the Community Library project. 3. Gold Award in the Community Based Planning Award category for the Strategic Plan Entrepreneur project. 4. Bronze Award in the Smart City Award (Smart System/Product) category for the project From Online Billboard Applications to The Smart I- Billboard System.These awards were received by Petaling Jaya City Mayor, Mohamad Zahri Samingon, accompanied by Deputy Mayor, Aznan Hassan; Deputy Secretary (Management), Mohd Fauzi Maarop; Director of the Urban Planning Department, Lee Lih Shyan; and Director of the Licensing Department for Business and Entrepreneurship, Sharinaz Samsudin. This success further strengthens MBPJ's position as a model city that is consistently committed to formulating policies and implementing initiatives towards a smart and sustainable city development. MBPJ is dedicated to continuously enhancing its services to be efficient, innovative, and impactful in meeting the high expectations of stakeholders and residents in Petaling Jaya
