IPOH: People are free to engage handymen to make repairs to their houses caused by thunderstorms or other natural disasters, says the state government.
According to the Perak Mentri Besar’s office, the public can carry out repairs, including plumbing and electrical work at their houses.Pasir Pinji assemblyman Howard Lee had earlier urged the state government to come up with a standard operating procedure on dealing with natural disasters amid the movement control order .
He made the call after last Thursday’s thunderstorm, which damaged about 80 houses and 30 shop lots in his constituency. When contacted, a state Covid-19 operations room spokesman said people can only call handymen who are staying within 10km radius from their homes. “The handymen are also required to apply for permits from the International Trade and Industry Ministry website to operate during the MCO.
