JELI: Kerajaan melihat tindakan menutup pangkalan haram oleh Polis Kelantan di sepanjang Sungai Golok bermula dari Pengkalan Kubor sehingga ke Jeli memberikan kesan baik kepada Malaysia dan Thailand dari aspek keselamatan negara sejak 1 Disember tahun lalu.

Menteri Dalam Negeri Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail berkata, pelaksaan itu sekali gus membantu mengekang aktiviti penyeludupan dan memperlihatkan ketegasan kerajaan dalam soal keselamatan negara.

Menurutnya, beliau telah bertemu dengan Timbalan Perdana Menteri Thailand dan Menteri Dalam Negeri bagi memperincikan perkara tersebut. “Soal keselamatan negera kita tidak boleh dikompromi. Penting untuk saya memainkan peranan memberikan kefahaman dari prospektif keselamatan ketika dalam hubungan berjiran.

“Saya lihat langkah yang diambil Ketua Polis Kelantan, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat mula menunjukkan keberkesanan apabila aktiviti penyeludupan berjaya di kekang,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan Majlis Penyerahan Projek Membina Bangunan Baharu Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah Jeli di sini hari ini.kewujudan pangkalan haram di sepanjang Sungai Golok menyumbang kepada pelbagai aktiviti penyeludupan.
