It looks like a hefty increase to the weekly pension is on the cards in the upcoming budget as a rise of between €20 and €30 is being examined by the government
Pensioners are set for a major cash boost as the weekly rate is set to rise by at least €20 a week - which would be the largest ever increase made to the state pension.
Documents prepared by the party’s policy office and sent to TDs, senators, ministers and general election candidates set out the costs of hiking the pension by €20 to €30 a week. It comes as thousands more pensioners are in line for fuel allowance payments under proposals from Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys.
